CityU 畢業入 UBS計劃 Grad job從來唔怕兜遠路🏃只怕連兜都唔做Career Hackers 每個月都會收到唔同同學嘅DM,當中有一個問題經常出現,就係同學喺認清對自己career 最重要嘅嘢嘅優先次序方面唔太熟識🤨,因而信錯自己嘅直覺,放棄咗好多有潛質嘅offer,隨時間過去機會愈來愈少,斷送大好career。今次不如睇下我哋其中一個CityU畢業嘅同學Gordon 嘅個案🎯,佢係點樣plan grad job入到UBS Operation Team,再檢視自己有冇做以下三件事,不斷摸索增加勝算嘅機會,唔好怕兜遠路先。第一:做好本份💪🏻Gordon 同唔少CityU 讀BBA嘅同學一樣,都有個想入Bulge bracket banks嘅遙遠目標,但因為對自己、學系、校名等等自信心缺缺,於是直覺自己報工最多係陪跑,或者跑都唔打算跑。不過Gordon reach out 我哋就係想搵突破,所以我哋coach 嘅第一個俾佢嘅建議就係:即使你唔係傳統尖子,就要想辦法先喺自己個field 做到最好,最直觀嘅一環,就係成績!高GPA 唔係萬能,但無高GPA就萬萬不能!好多大公司都用電腦ATS/AI幫手做初步applicant screening,低GPA唔止BB,係邊度嘅入場券都唔會有啊!而好在Gordon好清楚呢件事,所以一直努力保持自己喺Dean List內嘅紀錄直到畢業!第二:增加本錢 💡本科知識大家都有,所以要突圍,coach都建議Gordon 要先增加自己個profile嘅diversity,學新技能為自己帶來正向投資,再搵出最有勝算嘅一環重點落重本。Gordon 知道programming/tech skills 都係未來大勢所趨,所以自己有學Python、VBA、SAS等等,而呢個skillset,後來就係幫佢連接起Grab job嘅成功之道!第三:了解internship潛在機會及priority:名氣?性質?network?✨Gordon Y3搵我哋嘅時候,手上只有一個新世界發展嘅marketing intern offer。想入banking嘅佢當然想拒絕啦,但最後被coach阻止咗。呢個情況好經常出現於同學只係聚焦自己個goal,抱住寧願唔做都唔好浪費時間嘅心態,任何一眼睇落唔直接關事嘅opportunities都會秒速拒絕。但好在coach審視咗佢當時個空盪盪嘅profile,表明佢需要一個big name company響佢CV出現,即使係MKT都可以有好多機會,例如建立network。咁Gordon 最後take咗offer返工,繼續維持做好本份嘅宗旨,期間佢利用到自己嘅programming 認知,知道點樣幫公司超過80個Natural Language Processing (NLP) 同 image recognition algorithms 透過增加keywords同tags,大大提升campaign 及 dashboard performance,同埋生產更準確嘅 insights,呢個經驗更之後進一步幫佢埋下晉升伏線。Gordon 期後再拎到一個retail bank 嘅offer,佢嘅achievement之一就係幫手drive digital client onboarding UAT去令 cross-boundary customer journey更smooth,對Greater China都有進一步嘅了解同network。所有呢啲經驗都係一步步推住佢走近目標,當佢去UBS面試時,佢對programming嘅認知同經驗正中UBS最value嘅技能,喺面試官前留低深刻印象,因為銀行業愈來愈多程序需要candidate識做automation,處理最耗時但一定要做的clumpsy jobs,亦可以做advance嘅 trade settlement 或support。舉個例,就好似Credit Suisse一樣,佢為咗節省成本,都大大力推動digital transformation簡化front to back processes,減少人手data handling同重覆工作,公司Technology and ops 更一度佔四成headcount!最終Gordon 成功響無需要defer嘅情況下入到UBS!如果同學都覺得想要多幾個有經驗嘅coach以佢哋對行業嘅認識及經驗,幫忙評估自己嘅career path及決擇係唔係最好,就不妨同我哋book 個consultation call俾份CV我哋一齊傾傾~同場加映,如果大家都想學programming skills,都歡迎參加我哋個IT Bootcamp,學finance 及consulting 最精華需要嘅tech skills幫自己career advancement 做兩手準備!
