弱點變優勢!Non-Business/Finance Major 同學最常忽略嘅面試陷阱之前好多個Post 都有提過,面試其中一條近乎必問嘅問題,就係「Why us?」💁,範疇包括:點解會報呢間公司、點解揀呢個position、行業、時間點等等,大部份同學呢方面都會做足功課,諗定點答。不過呢條問題其實仲有個孖生兄弟,經常一問同學就會中伏,就係:「Why not XXX?」😈涉及範圍可以無限大,例如點解唔做返本行、點解唔一開始就讀商科、點解隔離個同學Ivy league我唔揀佢要請你…特別係對non-major嘅同學不利。今次就講吓我哋其中一個最近拎到SFC offer而本身讀LLB嘅同學Queenie,係點樣一步步準備business & finance 嘅interview,為轉行踏出第一步啦!同學想轉行可能有好多理由,由一開始就對本行無興趣,或者做過實習先發現工作唔適合、文化唔岩、人工唔理想、睇唔到自己嘅前景等等🤧。當interviewers問起「Why not」時,同學就傾向數一大堆缺點出來,並且講到理想果行有幾咁好,幾咁想做,其實呢個讚美動作其實無乜value,你估interviewers 唔知自己打緊果份工/行業有咩咁好咩🥱相反,你數出來嘅缺點卻有機會放大咗你嘅不足,就好似Queenie有提過,自己做過超過3份law firms實習,但都提唔起興趣,覺得無乜發揮空間,文化上唔適合,但佢CV上都係清一色law firms實習,咪即係所有工作經驗都係白做,無咩得着?😮‍💨而且佢自己都對自己份CV無咩自信,唔知認該點做先說服到人。要扭轉呢個局面,就應該用逆向思維,拎個極端例子,先思考下你同 business grad同學有咩分別先?🤔第一個諗到一定係讀嘅major 唔同,Technicality上有不足。咁對手讀咗嘅知識,係唔係你完全無辦法讀返嘅東西?Commercial & business 嘅skillsets 其實有個好嘅地方📚,就係只要肯學同俾心機就可以好快學到基本practical skills,Career Hackers 嘅theoretical minimum就係同學嘅精讀最佳materials🔖!然而你個major 所識嘅東西,讀Business或Finance school嘅同學仔係唔會無啦啦走去學架喎,咁呢方面就變成你Unique advantages,只要抽返relevant skillsets,論證返點樣由你個major demonstrate 到出來,就可以變為你嘅intangibles幫你另外stand out💡。例如Queenie有join Faculty Board 及AIESEC,經常要同唔同背景嘅人liaise點樣合作,亦曾經幫過law firm去draft & explain memo,幫助客戶交IPO application、做 due diligence calls等等。而Legal sector俾佢嘅 analytical trainings 都係非常有用,提供到business 同學仔未必有嘅經驗,說服recruiters你都係一個best fit💎。再者,Queenie 喺coaching calls都被coach要求將以上嘅advantages,更加重點咁針對及align佢報咗嘅每一份工嘅要求,配合額外對job post嘅資料搜集及insider tips,面對why not嘅問題就唔會再中伏🔥。不論咩major,想轉入finance sector都唔應該期望一步登天,但先了解自己有咩強弱之處,同埋有咩pathway,都一定係要同學自己肯踏出comfort zone💪🏻,以Queenie 嘅情況佢就選擇咗先從Compliance 入手,可以善用佢嘅legal background,亦可以進入金融體制,期望佢一邊拎on-hand experience,一邊補充返business & commercial acumen,拓闊其他Financial Services 嘅可能性及光譜,再慢慢調整exit paths。如果大家都想有coach協助自己搵到career 突破點,唔好浪費時間估估下,直接schedule一個免費嘅demo call,俾我哋睇睇你份CV傾吓實際上點做啦!💡Bio Link 內唔好錯過嘅仲有:🌏Global Winter Internship 最後召集🤝6個月內幫你拎Top Offers📝14日攻略教你寫一份好CV🟢免費Webinar 講盡Big4、MT、Asset Management📕100+ Apt Test Sample Q立即 Follow @career.hackers!
